a8 tech,

At the risk of sounding like a total noob... How do I get to these "menu's" to do the kick down and and throttle body resets?

If it's there I 'm not "getting" it... I'm guessing that there's a combintaion so to speak to get into these menu's/

I have a simuliar complaint about my 06' A4 CVT tranny and wanted to try this. I'm begining to think I just don't care for the CVT period but, also think it may just be my car.

Thanks in advance,
Jason

hello,

i have the same simpthoms on my car, the same car that you have. i reccomend to change your ATF, i will do it this week...
you have bellow some details about yout transmission gearbox:

ZF Friedrichshafen AG | Startseite | Antriebstechnik und Fahrwerktechnik

5 and 6-speed as well as 4HP20 automatic transmissions:
ZF 5 and 6-speed as well as the ZF 4HP20 automatic transmissions are filled maintenance-free with specially developed partially
synthetic ATF oils. Maintenance-free fills are intended for normal operating conditions. Especially driving at very high operating
temperatures can result in accelerated aging or increased wear of ATF oils. It is recommended, in the event of severe operating
conditions, such as:
- frequent highway driving in top speed range,
- offensive, sporty driving style,
- frequent trailer operation,
being above average, oil purification (oil change) on automatic transmissions is recommended between 80,000 km and 120,000 km, or
8 years, depending on the load.
In each case, only released ATF oil may be used for oil changes. And oil changes must be performed in accordance with the relevant
specifications.

gearbox model:

A4 2.0L Turbo FSI 6HP19A HHL
A4 2.0L Turbo FSI 6HP19A HKC
A4 2.0L Turbo FSI 6HP19A HYH

According to spare part number of vehicle manufacturer:
ZF Lifeguardfluid8 (ZF No AA00 601 304)
=> Audi / VW Oil No. G 060162 A1 / A2 / A6 ATF

i search a lot until i find the ZF company.... this is my first tiptronic gearbox, i don't have this kind of problems yet... ZF (they produce this type of tiptronic gearbox that we have) reccomend ATF G060162A2 (green) and nothing change in software settings on gearbox. if you look on the other web sites (parts shop) you will see that they reccomend the yellow fluid that you put in your gearbox but i think that is the wrong thing... i'll tell you more details after i'll come back from service... but...from what i read on many forums, the problems does not gone after put the new fluid.... it's reccomended that you change the fluid on a proffesional service, maybe on your dealer, not by yourself.

this is not correct, all b7 models with tiptronic transmissions came out from the factory with "yellow" and "blue" ATF and the b8 models came out with green ATF...looks like those transmissions have a lot problems,so ZF trying to solve the issue by creating new ATF,that's why they recomend fill with new ATF G060162A2 "green".there are only one difference of changing ATF by your self or doing it at dealer, the thing is that dealer have VAS scaner,so they can connect directly to the internet and download the newest software upgrade for the transmission control module.this software upgrade necessary for new ATF "blue" or "green"(latest one),failing to update the software will lead to transmission damage i hope we will find the problem together!;)

check other issues,i think this is close to our problem

1. Check the oil level

2. Read save assess the MVB 73-77 (only possible from MY 2006)

3. Reset the adaptation values through a software update or by deleting them (possible from MY 2006).

4. Adaptation of the gearbox control unit: (adaptation journey)

Detailed information:

3. Deleting adaptation values: (from MY 2006)

The values must be deleted after repairs to clutch, complaints about the shift comfort and major engine repairs.

Save MVB 73-77 before the deletion. If the adaptation journey is not successful, the old MVB can point towards the cause.

a) 10-adjustment -> channel 1 -> memory -> accept -> confirm.

The adaptation counter in MVB 73-77 (2nd digit) should now be on '0

4. Adaptation drive:

Note: For vehicles from MY 06 the deletion and the adaptation drive can be performed with the guided fault finding.

With vehicles up to MY 05 proceed as follows

ATF change:

Flush out the system to remove any old ATF (e.g. from the converter).

1. Drain the ATF and fill in new ATF (blue, G 055 162 A...). Check and correct the ATF level

Raise the vehicle about 10 to 20 cm.

All four wheels do not touch the ground any more.

Never run the engine without ATF and do not tow the vehicle.

Important: Do not drive faster than 50 km/h.

2. Observe the display of the driving modes in the combination instrument. Start the engine and release the handbrake.

3. Put the gear lever to position "D" while pressing the brake pedal. Carefully press the accelerator.

4. Carefully accelerate in "D" to maximum 50km/h and hold this speed for several seconds.

5. Carefully press the brake pedal and stop the vehicle.

6. Put the gear lever in position "R". Accelerate to 20 km/h and hold this speed for several seconds.

7. Carefully press the brake pedal and stop the vehicle.

8. Put the gear lever in position "D" and repeat steps 3 to 7 five times.

9. When the vehicle is stationary, put the gear lever in position "P" and switch off the engine.

10. Drain the ATF and fill in new ATF (blue, G 055 162 A...). Check and correct the ATF level

Adaptation drive:

Note: For vehicles from MY 06 the deletion and the adaptation drive can be performed with the guided fault finding.

With older vehicles proceed as follows:

1. Warm up the gearbox with low engine performance till the ATF temperature reaches 60°C (ATF temperature must be below 100°C).

2. At stationary vehicle - idle speed, brakes applied, switch from N to D and hold for about 3 seconds. Repeat five times.

Perform the same procedure from N to R.

3. Shift from 1st to 2nd while driving at low load and shift down from 2nd to 1st. Repeat 5 times.

4. Drive at low load (engine torque between 80 Nm and 100 Nm, see 02 automatic gearbox, MVB 09, 1st display value) till the transmission has shifted to 6th gear (vehicle speed about 80 - 100 km/h) and stay in this condition for about 30 - 60 seconds. Let the vehicle roll to standstill (with gentle brake application at the end). Repeat four times (the aim is to shift up and down at very little load).

I have the exact same issue, transmission coded HHL.

It turns out the issue is most likely internal... mine was throwing a code that the 5/6 gear ratio was incorrect and the solution is to either rebuild or replace.

Hopefully you've found out something that I haven't in regards to this issue.

Hi, thanks for help, i have changed torque converter and friction plates for my transmission. Looks like tranmsission no longer jerks. Everything looks fine, exept it kicks hard from 4 to 3 and from to 2 to 3 gears. I did kick down and throttle body adaptation. How can i delete adaptation values for transmision? My car made in March 2006.

Hi all, i've gotten myself a B7 quattro auto tiptronic transmission recently and i notice that when i floored the pedal , once the rpm hits 4-5k (changing gear from 2-3rd gear) , the car felt a little jeddery vibration...

What could be the issue with my transmission ?? Could it be the long shaft issue ??

Hi. My Audi a4b7 2.0 tfsi quattro has many problems with tranny but could they be caused by faulty temperature sensor? Data list group 42 gearbox engine oil temperature is showing all the time that oil temperature is - 14 °C. No matter how long i drive the car. Does anyone know where this sensor is located and how it is called?
