Whats the craic lads? I've got a 98 a4 1.8T there seems to be white smoke coming out of the exhaust but it doesn't seem to be using much oil than usual, or extra coolant! I reckon its something to do with the air-con as it only really happens when the car is cold and the air con is on. Any ideas? oh the car is due an oil change

Not sure of the best place but if the turbo has gone then I would look for a K03's Or may be upgrades to a K04-15 turbo (This is not a TT or S3 turbo as they will not fit).

i think there is no problem ,it is something usual to have white smoke in the cold weahher ,for the firt 5- 10 minutes,is the smoke reduce and nearly disappear in 5-10 minutes? ,if there is ap roblem with the gasoline sysyem the smoke must be black or if it is a oil problem the smoke must be a kind of blue,so probably there is no problem in my opinion.

I would go with the K03s or even a K04-15.

if i were you i would show the car to other services also ,i don't think it is a turbo problem ,any problem in the performance of car or in standat working? ,turbo is just a circulum of pressure ,how it is related with white smoke? ,white smoke means just the water ,turbo loves cold wheathers , idon't think that is aturbo problem ,if any problem with turbı ,you should feel it instantly.

hope he changed your oil line while he was at it as they tend to get sludged up.
