Hi all,

does anyone know how much lower an audi S3 sits that the standard A3, and what size the wheels are for S3's?

I am planning on getting some new wheels for mine but don't kow if i should go for 17's or 18's. The thing is if i get 18's and don't lower the car it will look like a truck. Not sure how it will look with 17's?

Any suggestions for which wheels i should go for along with the size would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at a set of Rs6 replicas at 17 inch. I like the Rs8 replicas but i think too many people have them.

One more thing, how much more do tyres cost for 18 inch tyres than 17 inch tyres in general?

Thanks.

I think there between 15-25mm lower than an A3 and they have 17s as standard. I know someone that has an S3 lowered on 19s so theres plenty of room in the arches.

I would go with 18s to fill the arches a bit better. You should be able to lower it about 40mm on 18s. Tyres normally cost between £70 and £130 for 18s and £60 and £120 for 17s. If you went for 18s it would be a 225/40/18 and thats quite a regular tyre so the prices are coming down a bit.

Good website for wheels

What colour is your A3?

245/40/18 if your rims are 18 x 8.5

Could prob still get away with 225/40/18 on 8.5x18 if you stretch the tyres which looks really good

yea but ur killing the ride, and then your ride cant handle for crap on turns and you cant take turns with some speed... I stretched them on my car and hate the handling on bends / curves / uturns.... you need a little sidewall to still have a nice ride... i stretched mine and now i have 0 sidewall.... you can barely see the make of the tire on it

The thing is i lowered my old car 40mm and didnt really like the ride. It was a bit too bumpy for every day driving even though handling was good and it looked good.

I know if i get 18's on it it will look like a truck so if i was only to lower it 15-20mm could i still get away with 18's or would 17's look better?

And whats the tyre size on 17's then?

If you lowered it 15-25 mm on 17s it would look how an S3 does on 17s basically. You will be able to fit 18s and still lower it definatly.

I think the 17s tyres size is 215/45/17 which are still quite expensive.

The size on 17" wheels are 225x45x17 on my 18" 225x40x18 when original from Audi
The S3 does sit lower but with the bodywork colour coded it looks lower

I would fit 17" unless you lower the springs quite a bit, the ride only gets harder & tyres more expensive.
