I purchased a 2000 from my bro in law a couple of weeks ago. He works for an Acura dealer so he has little knowledge on this car. The car has 75k on it and no serious history of problems. Just basic tune ups and such. Now I, myself, know very little about this car...actually cars in general..but I surely like how this model handles:) I've read one bad review on this site about this year. It would really help me to hear more opinions. From what I've read '98 was the first year for this car. I've also read the first two years were not very good. Has anyone here had a good experiences with the 2000 model?
I've tried to do a history search on this site but it is not working for me so I'll apologize in advance for asking rehashed questions.

Oooh, that does suck about the alarm. I don't know if I'd let that one go.
As for this knocking noise problem during shifting, I've heard about that from several people on different model years. I have not experienced this problem.....and hopefully I won't.
Well, so far so good, I'll continue to educate myself about this model and see where this ride takes me. B) Its not an easy car to walk away from!
thanks for the input Jamie

On top of it all I love my car and it would take alot more for me to sell it on. There is something about the TT that is classic, dinstinctive, uniquely stylish (inside and out) and in general, a damn fine build quality.
I wholeheartedly agree! :D

I took the car into an Audi dealership to perform a mechanical inspection....just to give me some peace of mind. Something a little more in depth than a 'safety' inspection. Well, I was told the car's engine was in perfect order except for two small things. There was a leak found in a vacuum hose. an air pressure bypass valve was not closing. and also the rear oxygen sensor had a slow response. Not a big deal to repair. I was really shocked when they told me three of the pirelli's had bulges in them, because the car was safetied(sp?) with two sets of tires. I've spoken with the dealer I purchased the car from and I expect to be compensated for the cost of the tires. Those darned things were $300 bucks a pop!
