Hi Indigo,
Not an easy question to answer but it does seem that our car is plagued by a few problems, some of them quite serious. From what I have seen on this site it is not limited to the 2000 model. I made a comment before that the nature of sites like Audi-Forums does tend to give rise to people highlighting problems, and so it can give a negative biase to the car, which is not necessarily accurate - meaning there are many thousands of people out there with no problems.
I have had my fair share of hassles, most notably a completely new engine installed after 59 000 km. There have also been a few other niggles, such as the recirc vent not closing, the fuel guage inaccurate and most irritating, blank lines across the LCD display & the windows sticking.
On top of it all I love my car and it would take alot more for me to sell it on. There is something about the TT that is classic, dinstinctive, uniquely stylish (inside and out) and in general, a damn fine build quality.

Yeah I would also be pretty upset about that, tires aint cheap and it is something that should have come up before.
:eek:fftopic:
As for the bypass valve (I assume you mean diverter valve), if you need to replace it, consider something more reliable that will probably last the life of your car. One of our members installed an after-market valve from www.stratmosphere.com and check the posting from Silver00TT here about his experience. I am considering doing the same. The OEM Bosch DV is plastic and apparently not great quality and not especially efficient, although not too expensive either (I think around $80).
