i have a sensor on the left side and at the back of the block (as you are looking at the engine)with no wire attached to it, any idea what this sensor is.

My temperture guage has not been working since i bought the car 4 months ago. I have had the temperture sender unit repaired at the very back of the block, but the guage is still not working. could this unwired sensor be related or could it be something else entirely. and is there a second temperture sender unit that could need replacing which has nothing to do with the unwired sensor.
