I recently bought a new 2005 A6 and I cannot seem to have any success with getting bluetooth to work. I have tried a few models of bluetooth phones but all have yielded the same result.

I put my phone in "Discovery" mode and use the MMI by pressing the TEL button. The message displayed on the MMI says something to the effect unable to connect to telephone.

For those that have gotten the bluetooth feature to work can you tell me the steps used? Does the bluebooth mode require the handset cradle?

thanks in advance for the help.

OK so I figured out that the phone actually needs to bond to the car and not vice versa. So my phone has found the car. I labeled the car as a hands free device but I was under the impression for the dealer that the car would be "aware" of my phone's address book and allow direct dialing. I have been unable to get to the work yet but more experimentation is needed.

Also with the bluetooth does the phone conversion played back through car speakers or still through the phone headset.

What phone do you have, there is a list that states what phones are supported and to what degree.

I've succesfully got a Nokia 6310i to work, where as my Orange SPV C500 will bond but has limited (very limited functionality)

Try to reset the bluetooth setting of the car. That's what I had to do for mine to recognize the phone. I tested it with a friend's pocketPC phone and it worked.

After a long search I found a bluetooth phone that worked the Ericsson T610 without any problems works fine with MMI and displays the phone book in the display screen. It does not need to be fitted into the armrest holder.

Hope this has been of some help

I am also having problems with bluetooth and different phones on the 2005 A6.

I am doing the following (if anyone spots what I'm doing wrong please help!):

1) Start the car

2) turn on mobilephone's bluetooth and detect / add new bluetooth device. Phone displays "searching" and then comes up with "audiphonexxxxx".

3)I select the audi option on my mobile phone and press continue. I am prompted to enter a "code"

4) I enter "0000" into my mobile phone as the code (is this right???) and press continue.

5)The MMI display on the car goes green and says a telephone is attempting to bond with the car - press confirm to continue with bonding.

6) I press confrim and am prompted to enter a "code" on the car's MMI. The MMI says to ensure that the code entered on the phone matches the one entered on the car.

7) I enter "0000" on the cars MMI and press continue

8) I wait...and wait.... and the MMI returns a message that pairing failed!!

Any ideas anyone??

I am trying to get this to work using a Motorola A1000 on the uk's Three network.

Yep, you'll have to enter 1234 as the code or else it will fail.
