Hey all, new to the forum and wondering if anyone can help me with this.........

I've got an '05 A4 with SatNav+ DVD (2005 Edition) but can't for the life of me figure out how to get the TMC (Traffic Management Channel/ Carrier) data to work.

My son has a Toyota with an older CD based sat nav system and it works fine on his providing traffic info and offering rerouting as required but on mine the TMC icon is ALWAYS crossed out despite being switched on (it also looks blue rather than green/red but that could just be my eyes!)

I've looked through the settings and can't actually choose a TMC channel manually but "auto" is selected and I get the TP Memo recorded messages.

Having scanned through this and other forums there was lots of people seemed to be saying there was licensing issues with previous versions of the DVD but these were supposed to be resolved for '05 edition.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Speaking to people on different forums and some thought it may become active at the end of this year ? Any idea why the delay - very annoying

Hi, I haven't got an answer for you I'm afraid, but I'm hoping you can help me.

I'm just about to place my A4 order and I can't find out if I am being offered the new Sat Nav Plus or not.

Can you tell me how to distingish between the old and the new one ?
I beleive the new one has mp3 slots behind the screen ?
Do you have a photo of the new one ?

you can send it to my old email address of [email protected] if you like, I don't mind giving that out as it is already heavily spamed !

Any help much appreciated.

Regards, DDave

Hi Dave,
My A4 is now 5 months old - I ordered the Sat Nav Plus which is DVD based with the two MP3 slots behind the screen. It is the most up to date with the controls under the screen - the new A6 has a similar system but the controls are down beside the handbrake. Unfortunately I don't have a photograph. My system is in my opinion very good and my only complaint has been the lack of TMC activation which is because of a licence issue with Audi UK. I contacted Audi regarding this and received the following response-
Thank you for e-mail dated 11 August 2005.

Hi AJ,

Thanks for the reply, but I'm really upset.

I went to place my order only to be told by my dealer that Audi UK are not accepting any more orders.

I have been given various reasons as to why, too many unsold A4's Cabriolets already in the UK, winding down production in readiness for the introduction of the new model with that really nasty grill.

I would be happy to wait for the new model if it wasn't for that front grill.

Can't find a car in stock anywhere with my options fitted, they either have paddles but no sat nav, or they have sat nav but no paddles.

I have been told that it is not possible to retro fit the sat nav, but I would be happier trying that than fitting paddles. I can't get any information out of my dealer as to what might be involved.

All very frustrating.
