Hi,

Got a A4 3.0 Sport Cabriolet with Multitronic gearbox (B6 platform) and was thinking i,d like cruise control,
I used it quite a lot when I had a Cherokee so was wondering if Audi retro fit this and if yes any idea how much.

Cheers

Cruise Retro fit

hello there

I am new to this site and came on trying to find info on fitting cruise control. Seems like there is no info on the Web explaining how to fit to an A6.

This link gives some info for golfs, Seats and some audi.s and passats.

www.golfmk4.co.uk - VW Golf Enthusiasts' Site

This is what I have found out so far.

There is a kit available to buy from any VW group dealer.

The part no is 1JO 998 527A. This comes with the stalk and a wiring loom and fitting instructions for MK4 golf. This is where you may well encounter a problem.

There are slight differences in the factory fitted wiring between the VW group cars. The kit will fit directly to MK4 golf and a few other cars. Not sure about A4 but the A6 needs some additional DIY wiring. This is where I am stuck.

Fitting of the stalk is similar to the instructions given but to remove steering wheel airbag on A6 you need to remove the 2 star headed bolts at back of steering wheel using a T30 torque spanner or allen style key.

The wiring loom plugs onto the stalk and you'll be able to route the rest of the loom up into the ECU box in the cars plenthum chamber by following the intructions.

After this I'm stuck. There are 4 wires which need to connected up to the white multiplug inside the plastic ECU box. If anyone wants to try this themselves and needs help please ask. As soon as I can find out which wires go where, I'll add a posting.

The kit from memory was £47 ish plus VAT. If I can overcome the wiring problem then it's a big saving over the £200 - £300 that is commonly quoted for fitting. Might even start fitting myself!!!
