I have a N reg audi 2.5tdi and service it myself, my problem is that it has "ins 2" flashing on the trip computer screen when I first start it up, is there any way of resetting this without getting it plugged into the Audi main dealer computer? I've managed to reset them on other cars (2002 skoda and various VW's) by pressing/holding and twisting various buttons on the dash, however I've had no luck with my Audi.

Cheers Leon

Vag-Com or Audi dealer / specialist, you can't do it with the dash controls on this model.

From what I've read Vag-Com is supposed to do it, got one coming so will update you as I'm not certain. Ross Tech say Vag-Com works on 96 /97 A6 but it is listed as a "tight car" in their details.....

A Draper audi service light reset tool a mate had wouldn't do it and my Snap-on dealer tried his new system and that wont do it either although it read my airbag fault code and reset the light.

If Vag-Com works once I get it, and you venture near to Chesterfield you are welcome to pop in for a reset / fault code check.....

My manual for '95 A6Q says this fault code means, you have missed scheduled check in service (authorized of cours). It's just annoying thing telling you that you should go there to the authorized service for a rutine check. The manual also said there's no "button combination" to cancel this... It should fade away after few minutes anyway, right?

WOW! This is a blast from the past, your right, the display did change after a few minutes.

I've since sold the car to Bladerunner (small world eh?), who ran it for a while and then removed the bit's he wanted for spares and ebayed the rest.

I stupidly replaced it with a 03 Primera that manages to do 18-20MPG as opposed to the Audis 40+MPG.
