got a problem which has me baffled ...

my A3 started playing up when idling, rev's where eratic. recently the problem has evolved into an almost complete loss of power which seems to happen once it's warmed up, occationally it will give a sudden jolt and from that point on be gutless ! any clues ?

i was recommended to inspect the coolant sensor (little to see there) and the MAF sensor which i've cleaned. no change ... apparently the car should still run with these disconnected but a little rough but still no change to the loss of power !

help !

What model A3 do you have ?turbo or non turbo?

Have you checked the lambda sensor on the catalytic convertor which can cause power loss if faulty.

Could also be your coil pack failing if turbo model which is common on 1.8t engine.

If you cant sus it out you would be best to put the car into Audi for them to plug it in to VAG com for fault codes on running.

Good luck with finding the problem and let us know how you get on.

Well i've had in plugged into the VAG com which came up with a couple of errors.

1. coolant temp sensor
2. engine speed sensor
Hoorah i thought but resetting the ECU only brought back the Speed sensor error which hopefully will cure the prob 100 odd quid later ! but i would have been more convidence if it had been the temp sensor, guess we'll see once i replace.

Cheers guys
