Hi All,
I have just purchased the TT Tiptronic 2003 and am interested in upgrading my computer chip to give me more power. I am getting mixed messages from local suppliers and need some unbiast advice. Can anyone who has done this let me know if they have had any problems with doing an upgrade? Plus how much extra both Kw and Torque did you get?
Thanks Matt

its hard to say without dynoing your car how much added power (hp/kw) and torque you're getting, but you can definatly feel the difference. I've had chipps in 2 of my 3 audis (both 2.7t).

a chip will not damage your engine, unless (if you have the 1.8t) you're boosting the turbo pressure to more than the stock engine can take. Any aftermarket chip will be safe. once you start programing your own chip, things can get iffy.

Since you have tiptronic there are also tiptronic chips out there to manipulate the shift point to be more agressive/faster.

Usually a chip will void your warrenty, but sometimes, if installed by your dealer, they'll be cool about it. In my case, my dealer is "mod-friendly" so they allowed it. I've heard of many others who arnt tho. B)

Thanks for help.
how do I know whether I would be boosting the turbo pressure to more than the stock engine can take?
The chip guys are telling me from 132Kw to 155Kw and from 235 Torque Nm to 274 Torque Nm.
Do you think I would need to boost the shift point on the tiptronic chip if I went with the chip mentioned.
Would the new chip put pressure on the tiptronic system if left standard?

First of all, that sounds like a good chip. If my calculations serve me ... you're boosting your engine from 177hp to 207hp (for all of our american/euro veiwers) which is a good gain. (also, torque from 173 to 202 ftlbs)

That doesnt sound like a problem for the mighty 1.8t, but from the information you gave me, its impossible to tell how much increase turbo pressure you're getting. You'd need to find out how much added PSI (or... kg/cm???) the turbo is putting out to get this added power. It doesnt sound like it would be a problem tho.

As far as the trans., thats up to you. the tip. trans can hendle added pressure with out any problem. you can also re-tune the stock trans. computer with a VAG-COM unit to up your shift points. (search the forum)

Don't worry, you're not going to blow up your car with a chip :D
