Oil leak.

Hi,

I am looking to buy an Audi S8 2006 model.

The car drove and felt really good and was serviced and MOD'd a few months ago and since sat parked up. After driving it I looked underneath and noticed that the engine tray was really wet with fresh oil. After looking in the engine compartment, oil was seen at the bottom of the tray nearside at the front.

Any ideas or common leaks around that area.

The current owner said that the oil cooler previously leaked but was fixed.

Any help is advised because I can take the car and risk or should I walk away.

Richie.

By engine tray do you mean the engine cover? This cover is removed for oil changes and service on the oil cooler. Typically this cover would be cleaned before re installation, might be the cam seal which leak over time. Has the timing belts been replaced? How many miles ?
Hi. I mean the tray that sits at tge bottom ofbthe car, to stop road crap getting into the engine.

I was told its a timing chain and as far as im aware, no belts have been changed. Chains not even retentioned but could ask.

It is on 94000 miles.
Kim65, I have not checked anything. I went to view the car to purchase so limited on time and experience.
My bad I was thinking of earlier models , the chains and guides are only replaced with the engine out. As far as the leaks I would have a ppi done by Audi may be worth it last time I checked they wanted 400.00 for a full report
