Hi All,
Please can anyone help ?
I purchased a 99 A4 in 2002 which has had the problem ever since i have had it.
When the car is in neutral it runs very well no idling problems.
However if i am slowing down maybe say to approach a roundabout ,as soon as i start to engage the clutch to drive off the rpm will drop sometimes as low as 300,which i have to compensate with over revving,i have this down to a art now.
But my friend came over in his A6 yesterday which i parked for him,his car is fine and has no such problems.
Anyone had a similar problem ?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciatted

I had this problem with my B5 1.8T. I'ld be driving on the highway and all of sudden the rev's would drop to about 300 for a moment and then come back to normal. This started with just dropping at slow speeds but it ended up occuring alot.

The dealer I brought it to tried to find the problem but not codes were being shown. I suggested swapping the ECU with a good one. They did this and it solved the problem. Then then ordered another ECU, had it installed and no more problem.

Before getting another ECU from the dealer you might want to get your chipped instead. It's half the price and you get better performance
