When I changed the valve cover gasket and I think that one of the studs may be stripped. While tighteneing the lower, left cover bolt all the way in the back, the hardest to get to, I think the force required during tightening got easier. I was using a 1/4" drive and could hardly get a grip on the rachet, I do not know how I did it. My questions are - Can a new stud be purchased? Has anyone ever changed one? They do not appear to be too difficult to change. I appreciate all help..

is it a stud going into your cylinder head (valve cover slides over studs and secured with nuts), or bolts that go through the valve cover, and then into your cylinder head.

only asking, cause it might be easier to relpace a stud, rather than what you may need to do to fix stripped threads in a cylinder head.
