HI All

After having my MK3 Gti 16v for over 8 years I decided to drop the VR6 engine in, was a good idea but has turned out to be a nightmare after many idiot's and so callled mates the car has the following issue's and tinking about getting rid.

1)Needs VR6 rad and slam pannel put in even though gave the so called friends the correct one they bodged it and car over heated and burnt my arm.

2) Hole in gear box where the drive shaft had come off and punctered the box, so need alloy weld,

3)Suspension needs changing to coil- overs has P1 Shocks and H&R springs just too hard.



4) Got a frigging water leak under the driver's feet noticed after heavy snow fall anyone got idea's how to fix or how to trace leak.

Love the car but where do you draw the line...../:confused:

Any real enthusiats welcome your support.

Plus anyone know where I can get the cliffnet lead for my pc to link to car ?

Car was VW demonstrator when it first came out in 1997 so had full leather,whcih is still orgional to this date and in good nik.

Hi,

Lots of work swapping an ABF for a VR6, especially when the 2.0 16v is so capable to begin with.

The 630x380mm rad fitted to the VR6 models and twin fan setup is the best solution.

As for the gearbox have you considered sourcing and fitting one from a V5? Generally in much better condition and a relatively easy swap, you use your original clutch and flywheel. If you're interested I have more details on the bits and bobs you need to do to get this to work.

Are you sure the water leak isn't from the heater matrix? If it isn't it could be from the plastic square under the cowling in the engine bay where the cabin air is drawn in? This is fairly common, I always run black silicone around the base.

Should be the correct fitting lead, I have this for my MK3 8v GTi and it works for everything I need it for.

Thanks for the feedback i will look into into when i can but need to sort my allroad out now another nightmare of a car....lol failed mot because the xenon headlight adjuster broken not the motor the little plastic adjuster 500 quid for a new one thinking of just swaping to normal lights for it due to cost.
