Hi All,
Ive just upgraded my 1996 A4 1.8 20v for a 1998 A4 2.8 V6 30v Quattro!
I've noticed a bit of "Mayonnaise type stuff" on the inside of my oil filler cap on the Quattro?
I've given her an oil change & there's no sign of it in the oil ( although the old oil seemed a bit thin to me)
She doesn't seem to loose any water either ( the antifreeze seems dirtier than the 1.8)
I'm hoping the head gasket hasn't gone :(
Any ideas chaps?
Cheers
Steve

:D
I think your correct!
After running her for a couple of days since the oil change it has completley gone!
I presume the previous owner just topped it up with any old oil, or grade, :crying:

I think it was water, if not from coolant circuit then maybe atmospheric H20 condensed inside engine from heat/cold cycles when sitting, or driving car very short disstances so it doesnt heat up? Glad it dispersed. A good long run will do that. Hope it stays away.

I always peer into the valve cover hoping to see how clean the engine is. White gunk would scare me.

No, nothing wrong with the 1.8, Daft of me changing it really, But I always fancied the Quattro & one came up at a price I couldn't refuse!
Since the oil change on the Quattro, I've had no more problems! :D
