Hi Biggles

As you're in UK, I presume leak is in passenger footwell? If you have an Avant, does your rear washer work? I had this problem - there was a washer pipe union that came adrift, the carpet was sprayed every time I pressed the switch. If this is the case, just remove trim panel forward of the door and look for vertical black plastic tubing.

hey guys im new to the forum. i just purchased a 98 a4 2.8 quattro I LOVe the car. so much fun. one problem about a week i noticed that my steering whieel was really hard . so i checked the fluid and sure enough it was very low. i bought some hydralic fluid and ithought my problem was solved . same symptom and again it was very low. NOw its really hard to tell if its a leak due to the fluid drying up and turning the same color as the ground but i can still distiguish the leak trace. SO am i for sure looking at a leak and if so what am i lookig at price wise to fix it.
thanks

Not sure if it's leaking inside the car our outside the car. I'm not sure about inside, but if it's outside, in the front left corner of the car, check the hose connection for your headlight washer's (if you have them). The connections are all right there. You'll have to remove the splash guard that's under the whole engine compartment to see what's up.

Good luck.
