Do you mean ecu remap as a add on chip is not neccesary on cars made after 1999? If the car is remapped it is virtually undetectable if say you had a crash and the insurance wanted to inspect your car for anything modified. As far as im aware there are not really any risks associated with the ecu upgrade as the 1.8t is capable of 400bhp with the right tuning. My avant has currently been remapped to 202 bhp and it is plenty different on acceleration.
Thanks for the reply, I encountered a few postings where the longevity of the chipping process may relate problems with starting the car down the road. I am hoping to hear from others that it does not impact the long-term performance of the car.
