I sent my A3 in for a service today (Car has covered 64K) really pleased with the service and customer service (mainly thanks to the courtesy car , a 55plate A4 2.0TDI Avant sport line - great looking car and loads of torque compared to my 1.6 a3!!!).

I am after some advice on where to get the extra work carried out brought to my attention from the vehicle check. I am in the hertforshire/bedfordshire area, so if anyone knows of any good audi specialists or such in the area that wont rip me off I would be grateful.

for instance I think £26 pound to change a front indicator bulb and £64.74 to change two bulbs in the 3rd brake light a little steep especially as these are really easy jobs to do!!.

The work that needs to be done is
1) replaciing front anti roll bars and then 4 wheel alignment whcih audi @ hitchin want £230 for the arb's and £170 for the alignment, is this price steep?

2) new centre exhaust braket, current one broken, audi want £164, surely kwik fit would do this alot cheaper?

any advice on my queries greatly appreciated.

many thanks
Lee

Audi labour rate is an extorsionate price.
You would be best to look in your local yellow pages for an independant vw/audi specialist garage to do the more major work.

You say the car needs 4 wheel alignment-Is it a quattro model? £170 for allignment is crazy. Down here at a local wheel and tyre dealer i can get 4 wheel tracking done for about £75 .

so far I've got a quote from a local garage, non-specialist, for the arb's he said £35 each for the arb and then roughly £40 to fit which is a lot more reasonable compared to audi, although he cant do the alignment he could check the tracking but cannot do the laser alignment.

I could probably get the alignment done at a local stapletons or kwik fit , I guess!,

Just tried getting to the third brake light to check what bulbs they need and boy its tricky !,

Has anybody got any advice on how to take the trim off from inside the boot? I've got a haynes manual but its not much help pictures are crap and not too descriptive on how his is done!

Yeah funny enough i just took mine off on A3 couple of weeks ago.

The high level brake light can be got to behind the big plastic panel on the back of the boot lid.You need to pull it hard as it is atached by pop in clips and will clip off, bit like a door panel trim.

Good luck with the repairs.
