Does anyone know what the base ignition timing should be for the 16V 2.0L engine? Also what conditions should prevail before the test is done, e.g. temperature sensor disconnected or similar.
Working on the premise that the engine is similar to the 16V Passat one 6 degrees BTDC seems to be a likely number.
I am getting slight pinking under heavy acceleration and am currently developing the hypothesis that the base timing is wrong and that the knock circuit is thus running out of room under heavy load.
Any illumination would be very welcome.
