has anyone, I have rested it on the radiater pipe to photograph it, but it seems to be a sensor of some kind, i found it dangling in the engine, wired up but not attached to anything

help greatly appreciated

you wouldn't happen to know what it should be attached to do you, because a cooling fan for the inlet manifold doesn't ring any bells.

Its normally bolted to the inlet manifold on the head on audi and vw cars, it controls a blower fan that cools down carb/injection...I had one on my 2.2 UR quattro.

Don't know if u have found out where to bolt it on yet... usually sits on the front left corner cam cover bolt lookin from the front . Its engine bay temp sender, switches fan on after engine is turned off if it gets too hot in there :)
