I'm a novice mechanic at best. I have an 2000 Audi A4 1.8T. I'm at 66k and I know I need my timing belt changed. I have found great How To's on changing your timing belt. But I have three questions. I bought this car with 56k at a dealership with the audi certified warranty, so how do I find out it was changed or not? Is there way to check physically. Without doing the full removal of the belt. Is there something to take off so I can do enough of a visual inspection?
Also, Can a novice mechanic the replacement of the timing belt, pulleys, tensioner and, water pump? I have a Haynes manual, but everyother one I read online and in the book are different. Do you have a faster way or an easier way for a novice.
Thank You!
