Looking for an interesting project car.

Not really wishing to return to VW world after six generations starting with a 68 beetle and ending wit ha 1.8t jetta, then looking away from VW for episodes with Toyota, Mazda, Toyota and now Nissan. Nothing against VW but... want broader horizons.

Then I realized I can easily afford a used A4 quattro. Two friends have them - older but nice. Audi gives me a different feeling than mere VW. Hmmmm.

I am going to snoop around this site to get a better understanding of attributes and values of each "4" model variant so I can buy smart.

I imagine I will complete the modification part of this project pretty quickly; Audi does not leave a whole lot on the table, performance-wise, unlike Nissan did with that B13 I am now driving, which responded so well to upgrades, and which can be transformed into (well, almost) a mini Skyline if one wished to go that far...

welcome.. the 1.8t A4s respond just as well to mods... there are tons of things you can do... S4s (2.7 twin turbo) is very fast and mods are just as available.. stock hp is around 250 but i've seen them pushed up to 400 easially with simple mods (hey.. chip will give you +60hp, and a boost controller will take you up another +10)

Sold my jetta 1.8t before digging into mods. I was poised to start with a turbo inlet pipe from Neuspeed, I think, and wished for a better cold air intake setup.

Does the A4 1.8t have the EXACT same powerplant as the same year VWs?

Also were there any 2 door A4s?

Other foruds I have used for other projects had FAQ sections with lengthy common-QAs and other background stuff. I cant find this here, am sorry to ask basic mewbie stuff.

yeah, its pretty much identical.. some software differences.. and the 1.8t's in the TT are different
