Hi
The Air Volume Meter has given up on my 2000 A6 2.5 TDI. I checked it with VAG-COM and it constantly reads between 250 - 350 mg, no matter what the revs are, whereas the expected value under acceleration should be somewhere around 1000.
When I unplugged it, the engine switched to an "emergency mode" where the missing information was replaced with a dummy 500 mg. The noticeable effects were:
1. I get better acceleration at low revs.
2. I get a fair amount of black smoke when revving up.
3. The ESP/ASR light comes up.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour? Especially the ESP/ASR light is very strange to me... I'd rather expect the Check Engine Light to come up...
Thanks in advance.
Mihai
