Hey Jason thanks for making yourself available. Just posted my problem with rear rotor clearance issues on my A6 2.7T quattro . Can't get the stock rotor to fit - the rotors I've been getting from the parts stores are too thick and rub against the rear bracket opposite the caliper - any advice would be appreciated. I've had to leave the OEM Audi rotors on since they're the only ones that clear the bracket, but they're almost shot and definitely need to be replaced.

The gear ratios are very short in the S4. This explains why 60mph isn't achievable in second. When you are doing 80 what gear are you in?

Gears

Thanks Jason, If I had the car chipped would that make any difference?

sorry for all the questions I had a look on youtube and there was an S4 on there that did 60mph in second so I was wondering if it would make much difference having the car chipped

Many Thanks

Chipping it will not change the gearing. Gearing is set by the size of the gears and the gear ratios. Although due to the added power it can increase acceleration. This means it can get through the gear quicker. By moving the rev limiter up you are able to reach higher speeds. But the higher you rev the car the more it requires internal components to support that.

I hit about 62-63mph indicated when I reach the rev limiter with my '02 B5 S4... Also seems like I'm turning less RPMs @ 80mph. Surprised your UK model has MPH display and not just KPH... Maybe someone swapped some gears on you. There is a spec sheet over on AudiWorld that list the stock gear ratios & final drive for the B5 S4. You could calculate what speed you should be at for a given RPM if you are so inclined (there are even online calculators that do that once you know the gear & final drive ratios).

PREVENTATIVE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
I'm afraid we don't get many S8 cars around us so I'm not going to be much help with the technical aspects of the job. If it is like most other Audis I've worked on it shouldn't be too terrible.but it sounds like you are needing to back off the parking brake locking mechanism? This is tricky as you'll need to secure the car from rolling while you have it lifted with the parking brake off. Large bricks are usually good wheel chocks if you don't have access to a frame lift.

Hello to everyone!!!
My name is Mimi and I just joined the forum.
I need your help to decide either I am going to buy an Audi or not.
I am on a very low budget, but I have found an Audi A4 TDi from 1999. The clock is reading 195000 miles. The service book shows that the car has been serviced periodically, but other then timing belt, water pump and the fluids no major part change has been done to the car. 4 previous owners. No other details.
Am I to expect some big parts like the clutch to need replacing soon if I buy the car?
I didn't have an Audi before, but I've been a fan ever since I was a teenager.
Thank you all in advance!

Hello to all!
I'm new to Audi-forums, but not Audi. My daily drive, which is my 5th Audi, is a 2002 A6 Avant Quattro 3.0, and my back-up is pretty reliable 1990 90 2.3L 10V FWD auto.

I've just finished slapping pads & rotors all-round, and ball joints & tie-rod ends L&R on the 90 (horrible roads in town). It's always been an in-town car, and it only has about 130K miles on it. As I said it's a reliable starter & ride, but the mpg is not what it should be, and feels heavy and a bit sluggish. I suspect the air intake bell (the big rubber round thing over the air metering plate) because some ham handed baboon put it on incorrectly seated and tightened the snot out of the band clamp. As a result the rubber ring is deformed and no longer sits in its groove correctly. If anyone has a good one for sale, please let me know.
