Hello, I have a 2001 A6 4.2L. The car runs perfectly fine, however the check engine light is always on untill i erace the codes, but even then the light comes back on in only a few days. The codes have to do with the catalytic converters, both of them. However it doesnt seem like i need to change them any time soon. So if anyone could please tell me if there is a way of getting the check engine light to stop from coming back on? thank you!

Mine comes on all the time also but for lean air fuel mix. I guess you could replace the sensors in the cats. Good luck.

S6 Catalytic Converter

My 2002 S6 (4.2L V8) has the same issue with check engine light. The code says the catalytic converter efficiency is too low and my dealer says I need to replace one of the converters. They are over $1000 a piece. I am trying to find a suitable aftermarket replacement. There is a Benchmark catalytic converter direct replacement for about $375. Does anyone have any experience with that or other aftermarket brands?
