I have a 'P' reg Audi Cabriolet and I've just encountered a problem with the hood. It has a power hood which works to the point where the storage lid pops open then it stops and I have to manually finish putting the hood down. When I put the hood up the lid pops open then stops, once I have the hood out of the storage compartment then the power will work for the last stage. Any ideas on where the problem might lay. I've spoken to a couple of garages but they don't seem to have much of an idea. HELP please - it's sunny!!

Where the hood stops is normally where the problem lies, I would say one of the storage compartment switches has stopped working, but also could be that the boot is not locking correctly, try locking the boot with the key first then try again.

Thanks for the advice. Had already tried the boot with no luck. Have had to book the car in to be looked at on Monday but will get them to look at the storage compartment first. Thanks again. Jan

Hi

I have the same problem!!! Trying to get it fixed. I believe that its a problem with the hydraulics. When I get it fixed I will let you know. You can operate the hood manually. Turn the engine on and operate the hood electrically until until the lid pops. As soon as it does then turn the engine off. You can then lift the lid manually and push the hood back into the space under the lid. When the hood is fully in you then pull the retaining levers on each side up so that the lid clips can slip into them. Then turn the engine back on and use the lever by the gear stick to complet the operation - the lid will then click back into place. Sounds complicated but its easy really and it takes 2 minutes when you are used to it and is worth it!!!

Thanks for the reply. We have in the last couple of days sorted the problem ourselves after visiting several garages who had no idea!! We thought as well that it was a hydraulic fault, but it turned out to be a broken wire between the boot and storage compartment. We took the car to a diagnostic centre who pointed us in the right direction as to where to start looking. Hope you get yours sorted soon. Jan
