Apparently my car is burning oil cause there is white and blueish black smoke that comes out of my exhaust on start. What could this mean? One mechanic told me I might have to change the whole engine head and that's a HUGE job! Is this true or could it be something else?

I would be suprised if the engine is that worn for blowpast on the rings unless a very high mileage.
More likely sticking rings or as said stem seals.

You can free rings with addatives if it's not too bad but stem seals need a strip down.
White smoke can indicate water in the mix. Might be head gasket related.
Any evidence of water in the oil.???
