I have a 100 2lt Avant. 12 months ago I have the two rear disc's replaced as they had become badly scored. During the week I went out and after a mile the car starting 'holding back' when accelerating and if you took your foot off all the pedals slowed down as though the brakes had been applied. Took it home to see smoke coming from a rear wheel. Took a rear wheel off today and found that the 'new' caliper fitted last year had locked on to the rear disc. The friction material had broken up on the surface in contact with the disc to a depth of 3mm.

Question. What may have caused this and what tool can you wind/unwind the caliper piston to check its operation
