Hi I am picking up an A6 2.0 TDi on Friday after a test drive today - everything is fine with the car except the factory fitted Audi BlueTooth phone prep does not seem to like my mobile (Sony Ericcson s700i)

It finds the car fine and when i dial, the radio mutes etc - "Connecting ...." appears on the MMI - but just wont connect.

The salesmans phone worked fine and Sony say they are not aware of any problems ?

Has anyone else had this problem ?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Cheers :57:

look in the audio/video forum... i few people have had problems connecting phones... personally, i think there may be a glith with the new A6's bluetooth system... which would suprise me, or be uncommon for a first year car.

Cheers Ill take a look :)

edit

Ive "heard" that there are similar problems with BMWs and that this (bizarrly as it sounds) can be solved by deleting all the text messages (inbox and sent) !!!!!

Im picking the car up this afternoon - so ill let you know if it works

Cheers again

TB

EDIT / UPDATE

Clearing the messages in your texts doesnt work (as has been suggested in many places) and my old T610 wont play ball either !

Spoke to Audi again and apparently there are different types of Bluetooth (?!?) and the cars software may need updating to ensure the latest compatability (sounds like a bit of a fob off - nut im going along with it).

So anyhows the cars going in Friday to have its software checked and if necessary upgraded.

Apparently Audi are aware of incompatability isues with certain phones (including Sony Ericsson )

Ill let you know

Unfortunately, the posts in the unofficial a6 bluetooth forum are really old - Mar/Apr of 2005. Bluetooth seem to be problematic.

I am having problems with my blackberry 8700C and Audi A6 2006 connection - it actually is crashing my blackberry after I make an initial call. Unfortunately, I cannot find anyone that can help determine if it is a blackberry problem or an Audi problem.

Does anyone out here have any similar experiences or have a recommendation regarding how to fix this problem?

Hi, I am having the same issues with my 8700r rebooting after using the bluetooth, but very intermittenly; The sim card and directory downloads without issue, although the recent calls do not work. Anyway, the issue of rebooting: I checked the blackberry site (http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/8021/7925/736516/What_Is_-_Supported_headsets_and_car_kits_for_Bluetooth-enabled_handhelds.html?nodeid=858763&vernum=15) And the car kit says it is compatible.
I have tried Audi several times as well getting now where, and have had Rogers replace my phone. None of this seems to make any difference. I now beleive the car is sending a commnand at the end of a conversation which is forcing the phone to reboot. (I would imagine it is security related, or maybe the way the software signs itself off). In anycase, if anyone can get anywhere with Audi, or Blackberry please let me know.
(by the way, this is the 2nd year of the car, not the first. In addition the bluetooth kit is the same as the A8, and the BMW's)

I was having the same problem with my 2.0 TDI. I had to remove all Blue Tooth devices in the MMI memory located in the phone set up, this got rid of the problem. I am currently using a Sony Ericsson T610. All is working fine.

Has anyone solved the issue with connecting the new Blackberry 8700 to the Audi bluetooth system. I have just switched phones from a Blackberry 6230 which worked perfectly. The new (and much improved) 8700 will connect to my A6 (2006 model) system, but somehow gets turned off by the system within minutes of usage. The phone then needs to reset itself completely. It seems ludicrous that I may have to go back to a very much older phone to use this function in my car. Any thoughts?

I'm with you on this problem. My car is a few weeks old. Same phone and the same problem. I've got some connections inside RIM so if I make any progress, I'll write back. Pleae do the same if you get anywhere. Sounds like calling Rogers to get a new phone won't help.

I replaced my 8700r with a new unit. I tested it for a weekend with only the basic phone function ie. my SIM card was in the phone but it was not yet synced with my server to receive emails. While the phone restarted a few times when the initial bluetooth connection was made, it worked perfectly. So this Monday I handed it over to our IT specialist who set it up to receive and send emails etc. and now it switches off whenever the bluetooth connection with the Audi is made. I am back to using a Jabra headset. Look forward to seeing if anyone is able to solve this - looks like it might be a RIM software issue.

I am having the same issues as described in this thread.

My Motorola V551 worked perfectly via Bluetooth with my 2005 A6 - SIM phonebook display, received calls & caller ID. Unfortunately, after upgrading to the Blackberry 8700C (Cingular), the phone is doing the following:

1. Causing the MMI interface to show an incoming call from "Unknown" and ring twice, then hangs up. (Described in Blackberry Knowledge Base #KB-04837)

2. Phone book, recent calls, etc. are not transferring. (#KB-04714)

3. Phone reboots if the car is turned off prior to disconnecting the Bluetooth connection manually on the phone. If the 8700c initiates the disconnect, it isn't rebooting the phone. (Haven't seen this documented anywhere)

Has anyone tried to upgrade their 2005 Audio kit to the 2006 version? Is it possible? (Via firmware update or upgrade of the MMI controller)

Does anyone know what version of the Bluetooth HFP and/or SAP spec (see: https://www.bluetooth.org/spec/) the A6 ('05 or '06) is running? This may provide part of the answer if they are using something pre-1.0 HFP.

This may be a bad assumption but my A6 was delivered less than four weeks ago so wouldn't I be running the latest version of all Audi software/firmware? I am going to send this thread of conversations to RIM to make them aware of the problem.

I have a 2006 S4 Avant with similar problems. The Bluetooth in the car will initially connect with my Audiovox 6600 but will then quickly disconnect. It usually reconnects a few seconds to minutes later. To add to the quandry, I have Verizon as my carrier, which has had its own share of Bluetooth issues. I was thinking of changing to the T-Mobile MDA. It appears to be compatible according to the most current list in the above post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
