I have 1996 B5 2.6 V6 Auto with about 130,000Km on the clock. There is a very slow oil leak from the auto-transmission (slight staining of the parking area at home) and a visibal drip under the trans which we can easilly keep up with by topping up at services according to my mechanic. However he also says the trans oil is "dirty"
There is no reccomended change period for the trans. The cost of replacement oil is $550. Do I need to change the oil, internal filter and seals or am I being over cautious? I do not feel i can get an objective opinion from the mechanic or Audi agents.

Apart from this the car is great, I have done the timing belt recently.but it worries me that the trans is going to fall over some dark rainy night on the desert road?

I have a problem similar to yours but much worse. I have a Audi 80 2.6 Advant with Auto Tranny code CFY.
heavy Leak. Loosing 1 quart of fluid in under an hour.
fluid coming from between transmissoion and engine.
Nead help in sourcing parts that could have failed like seals.

Just to let you Audi Manitenance manual states:
Automatic Gearbox: Renew ATF every 60,000 km or every 4 years whichever comes first. for ABC engine with CFY tranny.

hope someone can help. Car is down.
