Hi:

I just purchased a 2002 audit 1.8T. I love the car and I would like to know how to turn on the auto door locking feature after the car reaches a certain speed. The manual says to ask the dealership to do it, but I'm wondering if this is an easy change to make.

Does anyone know how to do this?? I'm hoping its not a software change.

yes.. its an easy change to make if you have a vag-com unit... all you need to do is plug it in and turn it off... but if you dont wanna buy a $500 vag-com you should take it to your dealer.. they should do it for free

Hi:

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping you weren't going to say that. The dealership has already volunteered to do it for about $60.00, 1/2hrs work. They said this is not a warranty item so we'll have to charge you.

I've got my 60K service in about 6wks, I'm going to see if I can sneak it in there. At least talking with a different service rep. may get me a better answer.

Actually, I'm appreciative of the dealership's service, they've already done three repairs without charge or question:

1. New throttle body to cure a stalling problem when the traction control light came on at random, (ie. not due to road conditions). The customer rep. and tech's were scratching their heads until the senior technician, (old guy with grey hair, couple of years from retirement - those are the guys I love to have work on my car), overheard and said to replace the throttle body. I didn't think it would work but it solved the problem for the last 3000km.

2. At the same time as 1, I asked them to change the wiper blades, they also replace the aerodynamic aide that keeps the wiper blade down - the previous owner broke it. I was surprised to hear that they only replace it once under warranty. They said too many people brake them clearing the snow off the cars when they are too aggresive with the snow brush. (not sure if I believe that reasoning)

3. Replaced the glove box door when it jammed. Brought it in late on a Saturday morning and they took me in right away.

Great site - I'm going to check in regularly.

just ask them to do it then. DONT PAY THEM ANYTHING! haha... they have to hook your car up to the computer anyway so then can do it then... tell the service rep that.. he'll be impressed.
