Had an A4 1.8 some time ago, and I wanted to test what happens if I remove the immobilizer in the key. When I started the engine with the bare key, and the immobilizer far away
, after 2 seconds the engine died.
I don't know if your problem is related to this, but what your car does seems so similar. I thought this might be of help. Check the key or try with the spare one.
