1st time on. I am looking at a 2005 S4, owned by an acquaintance, driven by a 20 year old. The car has 24k miles, the clutch was just replaced. The tires are shot, also needs brakes. I think pads will do. Any idea what a brake job for just pads and cost for rotors and pads all around?
its going to be a little pricey but to forewarn you, sounding like the problems the car has/had it sounds like the car has been drivien very very hard.just be careful on your purchase and best of luck.
Yes definately be careful when buying a car that has alot of wear and tear but you should be fine if you know what to look for. When you take the car out for a test drive make sure the radios off and listen for any unusual sounds like clicking, tapping, or rattling. So do your research on the car and the best of luck.

Phew!
Clutch after 24k miles?
No wonder the tyres are shot.

Hardly an s4 that's been looked after but at the right price could be worth considerring.

Has it an Audi full service history?
Who replaced the clutch?

Me?
Would get the complete costings for getting it back to decent, including dics and pads.
Then, offer them a seriously knocked down price.

Or
Wait for one that has a better history.
Quite a few 2005 s4's for sale at mo.

On and A4 Quattro 1.8T...... hazard lights flash when I start the vehicle. Is this a "message"? Thanks

hi guys, ive had this ongoing for a few months now, the dealer has replaced the n80 valve, a couple of feet of hose going down the r/s of car, and now it will not allow me to pump fuel, fuel gauge never goes past 3/4 filled anymore- long story short i disconnected the charcoal canister yesterday, drove it for a mile, and pumped in 10 dollars of gas in 2 minutes, no stopping; i could see the vapors coming out of one of the tubes, but i dont know if this is SAFE to leave this way or not? and, i have some knowledge, but no clue what that line is, or the smaller line next to it, then the opposite side canister line going to? if i left it this way, what would i plug off, as ive read other people doing it on older vw/audis? sorry, but u litterally have to draw it out for me; the dealer said i shouldnt of been able to pump fuel with the cansiter disconnected from the vehicle- i luv my audi, but this issue is driving me crazy-so, thanx for any and all help-C

grinding noise

I have posted this question in other forums and I am not having any luck with repplies. I have a new 2011 A4. She makes a grinding noise when I go slow forward and backward. The Audi people mechanic told me it is because it is a front wheel drive car and the transmission uses a chain, blah, blah....Okay so it is normal for a NEW car to make that noise - yes.
Well I dont believe it. Can I get someone els'e unbias'd opinion.
Thanks
Tina

Firstly the mechanic is bull$$$$g you. because your female and he presumes you know nothing about cars. You don't hear grinding from transmision chain if it breaks the engine won't work. and the fact it's front wheel drive don't make any difference to noises. I've been driving A4 for years they only make noises when they are broke. You may not know about cars but you must know the rules about shopping. Exactly the same rules apply to cars as hairdryers. If the are not working within the guarentee period take it back. Talk to the Dealership Manager. Don't ask, be polite and TELL them. The vehicle has a fault. You want it sorted . You have a Manifacturers guarentee, use it. Tell them its no "fit for purpose" and they have to do something about it. and threaten if nessary with Trading Standards. they should fall over themselves. Asertive females frighten mechanics. and Audi don't need bad publicity.
But back to your problem. It sounds as if it could be you have a wheel bearing gone, or maybe a stone or something caught between the hub and bearing. or if its in the engine bay its more serious. Take it back to your supplier and get the mechanic to drive it with you, and make them listen.

Hi folks first time on here. Looking for a bit of advice. I've got a 2007 A4 2.0 ltr 170 s line and the oil sensor light came on the other day then went off. It's come on today again and stayed on. I've checked the oil level and it's fine. Any ideas? I bought the car second hand with FSH and it's in really good nick. Any help would be appreciated.
New 03 A4 Cool car, or big headache?

Hey, I 've been here once before with my 96 A4, but I am now the proud owner of an 03 A4. I hope. This is the second day I've had the car. Just bought it yesterday. While driving it this evening, the oil warning light suddenly starts flashing in the dash. Made it to a gas station, where the attendent tells me the oil is full!??? Did I just purchase a whole lot a heartache?

Thanks for any advice
