the more cold air you can get into a engine the better,cold air is denser so you get more bang for your buck.
most high performance motorcycles have some form of foreward facing air intake to ram air in to the air box at speed.
also most air boxes are restrictive because they muffle the intake noise,so on a long m/way journeymay be to noisy

You probably wont get much of a HP increse out of a CAI...
But if you get a pod filter with a CAI and an appropriate heat shield so it doesn't soak up hot air from the engine bay, you will probably notice better throttle response...Especially on a cold night! And you'll probably get some induction noise...
