My 1.8 20v A3 doesn't like accelerating at the moment. Feels like an extended flat spot between 2000-5000 rpm. Just tested it out and got 20mph less than normal through heavy accelration on the same stretch of road on the way home from work. The engine anagement light hasn't come on at any point and neither has the oil light.
Anybody got any ideas?

I thought it could be the MAF. Like you say, it often doesn't show up. Any idea if a standard mechanic would be able to do this repair or would it be a dealer/VAG specialist job?
Was gonna get it chipped next week, looks like that cash is going on the repair then!

maybe it is not all bad,you can probably pick up an original MAF unit for
less than £100 and this is not a difficult unit to fit, the benefit being that after
10 starts of your car any fault codes that were, will disappear hence not braking
the bank too much for your big BHP
Cheques made payable to SHAUN (audi expert !!!) :

Yup, exactly what I thought. I'm booked into the VAG specialist on Saturday (got a couple of other problems to sort), but I know for a fact that the MAF is £100 but then you get a £30 rebate when you send in your knackered one! Any idea how to detatch the MAF sensor from the wiring loom? I've got it off the air intake housing, but now need to get it off the wiring side. I admit I haven't looked THAT hard, but I didn't intend to do it myself, but nw maybe I will?!
