Could you clarify your "low idle" problem. Does your engine 'hunt' at low rev's? This means your rev counter doesn't stay stable but moves.
If that's the case the airflow meter is not functioning properly due to mechanical failure (usually occurs when the battery has been replaced). This can be easily rectified by your mechanic. What you really don't want to hear with European cars, is that it can't be rectified easily and the injectors are damaged in which case you may as well re-mortgage your house to get it fixed.
