hi all, just bought an A3 1.8T, t reg, lovely car.
Everything seemed fine until today when i went to start it.
I put key in ignition, turned it and nothing! I repeated this for about 2 minutes until finally it started with no problems.
Also, when i lock the car with the remote control key, the indicators flash for about 2/3 minutes then stop. I thought that the horn was supposed to sound to confirm that the alarm was functioning. The red lights flash on the door locking knobs so i presume it is working.
Any help would be appreciated, i dont want to get stung for loads of cash at the audi dealers!!!!!!

Today it was fine though, hope it wont turn into one of those problems that you can never resolve............
I,ll let you know how i get on, thanks again .(nice car by the way!!)

Im gonna get the whole car checked over at the weekend.
Its now developed a clunking noise when i go over bumps etc in road, but its fine on motorways and drives lovely.
I was looking at getting new shocks and springs at the weekend, and then this noise started a couple a days ago.
If the suspension is the cause of this noise, then fine, but if it is nothing to do with that, id rather get that looked at first. Any ideas what it could be????

Thanks for the info. I rang a local audi dealer tonight and he said bring it down friday and leave it with them for a few hours while they test drive it and put it up on the ramp. Then i asked how much money id be looking at paying them just to find the fault and he said they charged £98 pound an hour!!!!
Now i know what the problem is, ill get my mate to do it.......

found out today what the problem is.
It wouldnt start again today, even though its been ok for a few weeks, so i got the AA out (to all our stateside friends, the AA is the 'automobile association' that you can call out if you have problems with your car).
A few quick checks, like checking the battery etc , and then he knocked the starter motor with a hammer and it started straight away.
So looks like thats all the problem was from day one, gonna get a new starter motor at the weekend.....
Hope this helps you out!

booked into garage to have starter motor fitted tomorrow, they checked the knocking coming from the front of the car and said that all the bushes, ball joints, arms, springs etc were ok and the clunking noise is most definitely the top mounts of the suspension.
Hopefully the mystery is over!!!!!!! :)
