Hello all,

My A4's climate control seems to working in some other countries climate, but mine, and has a mind of it's own!

Some days it will decide to work and others, not at all! I don't think it's anything as simple as a fuse or dodgy connections....... it's more temperamental than that! If it decides that it's not going to work, then it won't for the entire journey.

The compressor kicks in ok when you switch the air con on, but the fan itself doesn't do anything. You see the fan speed pick up on the instrument panel, but there's just no puff going on!! It's got nothing to do with the temperature set point because I've tried it on 'Hi' and 'Lo'.

Has anyone got any ideas or had this problem themselves? What with those frosty mornings rapidly approaching, I'd like to get it sorted.

Thanks
Paul.

Hello, you probably got this fixed by now, but since theres no reply's and in case you didn't.... I've just fixed the same problem - behind your glovebox there is a really expensive interior fan whose brushes are worn down. You can't buy the brushes seperately but aside from the expense replacing the fan is dead easy so you don't need a dealer.
If you're getting misted up windows and need a quick fix pull out the brushes from the sides of the little motor and stretch the springs a bit - it might give you another 2k or so miles!
