86 4000 Quattro Front End Vibration

86 Audi 4000 CS Quattro vibrates at highway speeds. Also on braking at lower speeds. Just got tires balanced and checked for belt shift as well as rotors out of round all OK. Vehicle was just inspected in PA where they check front end play - said OK. Any ideas as to what could be the cause. I am at a loss and cannot stand the vibration in the steering wheel, seat and floor. Thanks for any help.

Wallace

PS: Front brakes are brand new and same condition existed prior.

Perhaps a drive shaft mis-balance

Im thinking a balance issue with your drive shaft, sounds like at happens at certain speeds, its possible that one of your CV joints is slightly bent. Checked tie rod ends? THe steering colum also has rubber mounts that may be bagged, or bushings in you sub frame system or control arms.....sounds like an anyoying problem for sure...
