Hi, this is my first proper post on this site. I've just recently bought a 2000 registered 1.8T 5door in Kingfisher Blue. Absolutely love the car!!!

I'm seem to get an intermitant problem when selecting 2nd gear from 1st @about 4-5K rpm. Clutch is fully down but it's crunching into gear as if I've not got the clutch fully down - it's not my crap driving honest!!!

Any ideas/advice would be great.

Cheers,

Dave

Sounds like the synchromesh is out on your 2nd gear on the gearbox.

What sort of mileage has your car done as the audi gearboxes are pretty solid?

My A3 1.8t has done 140000 miles now and all is fine.

You would be best to take the car in to a independant gearbox centre for diagnosis.

Cheers for that - it's only done 56 1/2 K. Will find one in the Sheffield area and get them to have a look.

No - it's pretty random and seems to be when the car's been running for a bit? Haven't had time to take T-Sports advice yet and get it checked out. What's the fix if it is the Synchromesh?
