Hello all im new to this site and my Audi.
i was wondering how much i can boost my 1.8lt Turbo Quattro 1998 with a boost controller..

its standard at the moment but would like to get an exaush and pod and massive front mount intercooler put on later.. just for the time being i want to put the boost up a bit....

thanks all for your help in advance...

hi, most workshops in australia say 15 psi is fairly safe, i think at about 17 psi the ecu boost protection cut in which i believe can be re mapped, mine was running 16psi but i did blow my box, however that might not have anything to do with the boost. also the standard clutch tends to overheat sometimes so a heavy duty clutch is not a bad idea. be careful as gearboxes, even second hand ones can be damn expensive, in australia a secondhand box is au$2500 .

My advice is to avoid boost controllers.Have your ECU correctly remapped by a reputable Euro chip tuner. There will always be a conflict between the ECU and a boost controller.
