Free Breakfast Club and 'How difficult can it be???' events

Autopia Service Centres in Darwen, Lancashire is hosting a free BBQ in support of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs' initiative to get 'em out and enjoy them.

On 25th April this year many Classic Car Clubs and individual Classic Owners across the UK will be showing support for the UK's hstoric vehicle population by dusting off their classic cars, vans, bikes & trucks and getting them on the road to demonstrate the strength of the movement, showcasing our classic car hobby to other enthusiast owners and to people who don't currently own a classic.

The Drive-it Day commemorates 64 cars that set off from London on 23 April 1900 on the first Thousand Mile trial and will show the significant number of classics currently in the UK with many organised events taking place up and down the country, many museums and other sites of classic vehicle interest are opening or putting on some special events.

For one day we should see the largest number of classic vehicles out on the roads of the UK and we'd like to offer Autopia as a stop off for any classic owner or club organised run participating in the annual event, so we'll be hosting an all day BBQ with free food, hot and cold drinks - for drivers and passengers of classic cars that visit us during the Drive-it Day.

The BBQ will be fired up at 10am and across the day we will be serving; bacon rolls, sausage barmcakes, beef burgers, onions, baked potatoes, tea, coffee and soft drinks.

We just need to know how many visitors to cater for so please call 01254 433397 or email us through contact us form on our website with details of cars, number of people and approximate time of arrival?

Thanks to all who supported our Drive-it Day BBQ, photographs are now available on our website under the Car of the Month link and for those who couldn't make it, you missed a great day but we're planning to host another one near the end of summer, keep an eye on our news pages for more information - Welcome to the North-West's first DIY/Self Service car workshops

While you're visiting our website please consider voting in our Restoration project poll, we have an original MG B and have asked for votes on how it should be finished?

best regards

Breakfast Club and 'How difficult can it be???' events

Following our successful BBQ in April, we've announced a monthly meet called Autopia Breakfast Club, the first one will be from 10am - 12 noon on Sunday 22nd August, we've arranged a burger van and will open up the workshop so visitors can look around, if the ramps are not already in use, we'll be happy to lift a few cars for free so owners can have a good look underneath.
Subsequent dates will be posted on our website.

We've also announced a free monthly evening session in conjunction with the Blackburn College Motor Vehicle Engineering faculty called 'How difficult can it be??', the sessions will help vehicle owners who might be lacking in confidence to better understand their cars and how to maintain them, lecturer Ian Carter will be presenting the first one on 18th August between 6pm - 8pm, the subject is 'how to pre-MOT test your car' and will take the audience through the MOT test to reduce the risk of receiving a fail or advisory note.

Finally, we've already announced this but it's worth repeating - we're happy to offer the workshop as a free venue for car clubs to hold a technical evening, an alternative or addition to the monthly natter and noggin meeting, we suggest a club puts a car on the ramp and the owner or another expert can take the group through any number of technical items.

For these and other news items, please see our new website and while you're there, why don't you let us know what you think of the site and initiatives on facebook, twitter or our own forum?

best regards
Darren
