T cut or not to T cut?

I've got an A3 in Lava Grey Pearl and it has a few scuffs and light scratches that need sorting. I was after some advice on the best car care products for the colour. Do I T cut or not? I've heard that T cut will take the pearlecent finish away from the car! Is this true even for the specific metallic T cut products?
Anybody with the same colour car that can point me in the right direction?

Cheers all in advance!
