TT oil cosumption

Our 2009 TT looks to be the same. Only 4k gentle miles since last Audi service and light on - sure enough, dipstick at low mark. Car is garaged in So Cal so no cold starts. Definitely no leaks. How can it "burn" this much oil and not affect emissions? Can it "leak internally" somehow?

I've been driving nearly 50 years, used to do my own oilchanges and NEVER had this issue. Is it possible the dealer just scrimped on the amount of oil? Invoice says '5' but don't know if that is qts., liters, cupfuls or whatever! Grrrrrr......

[QUOTE=ORTTAUQ;136996]MTJ

In addition to what appears from normal to be high oil consumption, at least for my Audi, I am also seeing coolant loss, not much, but I have had to add coolant which means head gasket issues. This car was not abused by the previous owner, it has now only 96k and in nice shape. Also worn are front end suspension parts. I have owned many cars from new and never had any of these issues, even at 200k, and am becoming disappointed in this car very quickly. I bought it with 92k thinking it should be trouble free for at least another 60k, the usual time one begins to replace front end parts, but head gaskets, front end parts, and high oil consumption, had I known, I would have steered well away from this car.[/QUOTE
LOL Looks like we have a few things in common! I own a 99 B5 2.8 30V with 131000 miles and I got oil leaking from a few places on my motor not alot its minor sepage. I cant pinpoint the exact location yet but it leaks out on the driver side the most and it lands on the manifold making a worrysome oil burning smell. I also have front suspension noises that I only feel when Im in reverse with the wheel turned hitting the brakes. Not sure whats going on but I would like to find out before it gets to far and to pricey seeing as how I just purchased the car about a month ago. I joined this hopeing I could find some answers but im not sure i joined the right forum?

Oil Consumpution

I have Audi A6 Quattra (2006) and I was surprised on a recent trip that my oil was low since the light came on.. It was about a quart and half low. I am surprised to read that this seems to be normal!!!! The previous owner (family member) never had this problem. There is no evidence of an oil leak or any burning oil. There is some black soot on the tailpipes but I think that is normal too. Did anyone who was having oil consumption notice the same thing with the tail pipes?
