Cost to Fix Rear Shock

I drive an RS 4 and last night, on my way home from work, it started to make this sort of weird grinding noise near the rear right hand side tire. I thought I'd snagged something with it, some trash or something, but I'm starting to think after doing a bit of research that it's my shocks. About to drive it up the block to the closest body shop here in LA, but wanted to get a quick idea if this has happened to anyone here before and approximately how much it ended up costing? I live in LA which will probably drive the cost up a bit but I still wanted a general idea before I rolled up.
