Seat Motor Help

Hi
Just got a new (to me) S4 Cabriolet 2006 (2007MY). All brillliant - except that the seat motor that controls the back part of the seat base seems to be stuck. Gave it to the stealer today to assess and they have come back with a cost of AT LEAST £700 ($1000)?????? all other seat functions seem to work(lumbar is a bot suspect but is working), but the seat is just too high for me and I cant lower it!!

is this possible to DIY - cant believe a seat motor itself can be too expensive - must be v expensive Audi labour charges.....all and any advice very gratefully rceived!
thanks
Alex
