Hang on a sec..... To do the trans, you have to remove the front end, drop the engine and THEN the trans. With all that work involved you would be mad not to look at; alternator, A/C compressor, water pump and turbos on a +/- 90,000 mile Piece of S***, err, umm... I mean, allroad. You are not going to have much change, trust me.....

....... watch out for those trees that jump out at you!

Does anyone know the actual CAUSE of the reverse gear loss/slipping?
Is it in deed the reverse gear clutch? Worn friction plates or mechanical loss of function or electronic issue from the valve body?

I am debating:
- install used tranny (never know what you get; ok if cheap enough, just my time at risk)
- buy parts or an upgrade kit (source?) and install in tranny
- buy high quality rebuild tranny (can be up to $3k shipped!)
- have my tranny rebuild

Car has 110k on tranny. No other VAGcom codes (also not 'lock up converter clutch' code I have seen on LOTS of Tiptronics).
