Please Help...purchase Issue

I Am Scheduled To Buy A 2004 Audi With 64,000 Miles On Monday From A Audi Dealer For $23,000. My Initial Choice Was A 2004 745li But Afetr Reading Horror Stories About I Drive, I Decided On The Audi. I Own A Acura Rl Which Has Had No Issues For The Past 8 Years. I Hope I Am Not Buying A Nightmare With The 04 Audi A8. Can Anyone Give Me Some Insight And Also Recommend A Warranty That Will Cover Most Major Fixes Please....

Steer clear! Unless of course all the problems that come with the 04 A8 were replaced or fixed by the previous owner.

From owning my 05 A8 and (loving it!) I've had these problems:
MMI screen gear broke
Brake Light Switch replaced
Transmission squeak, requiring tranny flush: in progress
Timing belt procedure coming up.

I just fear all the things in the future, like the TPMS batteries dying out or something stupid.

Transmission squeek

Hi Brozee
Can you let me know if changing the transmission fluid fixed the squeak . I have 10k left of warranty and want to make sure I'm not missing something.

thanks,

Yes it did. The squeak and vibration are completely gone. Although you can get it changed under warranty because it is a TSB. Even if you weren't experiencing the problem I'd still have it flushed for future protection.

you should be paying around $18k for that year and mileage, 2004 is the first year release of the model, with known issues. The thermo will be going bad if it hasnt already. You will need a timing belt in less than 20k - running anywhere between $1200 and $2000. if you are buying from car dealer (new or used) you should be able to get an extended warranty from them and if not don't worry, your name and address will appear on all the mailing lists once you register it.

Hey Brozee thanks.... 3 months later and I just picked up my A8L. I have 67K on it and paid 20k... According to service records Brake light switch replaced and transmission flushed. No timing belt replacement yet. should I do it now or wait? Any warnings before failure. Do you also have to go to the dealer for brakes and a oil change?

Is there any experience here about the 2017 Audi S8 plus 4.0 TFSI? I am planning to lease this year but before that, I want to gather any issues, advantages, or concerns that anyone on this forum have or had experience for this Audi S8 model. Your reply here is much appreciated. Thanks.
